For guests from overseas, and for operators from overseas
Both the booking screen and the admin screens come in Japanese, English and Simplified Chinese. This page lists what is specific to guests and operators from overseas, and what is not supported yet.
01 Inbound support (booking screen)
Supported languages on the booking screen, and turning them on and off
-
Supported languages
The booking screen comes in Japanese, English and Simplified Chinese. Guests switch at the top of the page.
-
Turning languages on and off
Switch it off in account settings and the language switcher itself is hidden. Use it to take bookings in Japanese only.
Confirmation emails are Japanese only. The screens are translated; the emails are not supported yet.
02 Guest register and payments
What is specific to guests from overseas
-
Nationality and passport number
The guest register shows them only for guests with no address in Japan. Foreign nationals living in Japan are not asked for them.
-
Payments
Cards issued outside Japan are supported.
03 Admin screens in your language
Supported languages on the admin screens, and the language setting
-
Supported languages
The admin screens come in Japanese, English and Simplified Chinese too.
-
Language setting
Choose it in settings. It is stored per browser, so other users’ screens do not change.
Simplified Chinese for the admin screens is being rolled out screen by screen. Some error messages, and the emails Kai sends, are still in Japanese.
04 Operating licence
Who obtains the licence, and what Kai does not do
-
We do not hold your licence
You can start before the licence is granted, taking applications rather than bookings.
05 Not translated
Statutory text, and what you entered
-
Statutory text
The guest register (Ryokan Business Act enforcement regulations) and the pre-order disclosure (Act on Specified Commercial Transactions, Article 12-6). Translating them could change their legal meaning.
-
Property and room names
Shown exactly as entered. They are not translated.
